Students are currently learning about primary and secondary colors and how to mix primary colors to create secondary colors. Students created a paper weaving using cardboard and scrap paper. Once the weavings were finished, it was time to paint! Students painted some of their weavings with primary colors and mixed their own secondary colors to paint the rest! Once these are finished, they are going to look great!

2nd grade students looked at some of the first art examples that we have on earth: cave paintings/drawings! We looked at the types of animals that were drawn and talked about how paint and brushes were made to create the artworks. After practicing their drawing skills, students chose animals to draw for their cave art. We then used chalk pastels to color them. We finished off the cave art projects by spraying the student’s hands with paint to leave an outline of their handprints on their papers!
